We lament over the unfortunate fact that our pets have a dramatically shorter life span than humans. I believe this is because we can handle their deaths, painful as that may be, but they simply cannot stand to lose us. Think about how much you love your cat or dog; now multiply that by thousands…that is the magnitude of the love they feel. The pain they experience upon losing their humans is too much for them to bear; therefore nature has been kind by letting them die first.
